Inner Mongolia to Push E-commerce Development

Officials from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region taking charge of information industry said since this year an increasing number of local enterprises have turned to using advanced communication means like Internet.

Aiming to sharpen their competitive edge, local government organs in the region are also preparing to put themselves online.

Officials in the north China autonomous region said their is a great leap toward E-commerce development.

Statistics show that there are altogether 150,000 computers in enterprises and administrative offices, and the local wideband network has been able to cover all the leagues and counties.

Internet users in the region have been doubling every year in the past few years, by now, the figure has exceeded 20,000.

On-line payment for charges and on-line stock exchanges have come true. And one-fourth of the local large and medium-sized enterprises have set up their intranets

Apart from these, the region has launched websites on economic, scientific and technological information and China's livestock industry to provide people both at home and abroad with the region's latest development in such fields.

Local financial system has been connected with the national network, and on-line banks have also gone into operation, which has made it possible for the region to try E-commerce.

Uyunqimg, newly elected chairwoman of the region, said recently that the region realized an increase of 10 percent in gross domestic product (GDP) last year, higher than the country's average level.

This year, the region will intensify economic restructuring, consolidate the fundamental role of agriculture and animal husbandry, deepen the reforms in State-owned enterprises, accelerate the industrialization and information industry development, and support the growth of an individual and private economy.

It will take advantage of the country's further stipulation on domestic demands and of west China development strategy to maintain the GDP growth rate at 10 percent this year, and to realize an increase of 8 percent in per capita disposable income for urban citizens, and a 7 percent rise in per capita income for farmers and herdsmen.
