Top Chinese Leaders Meet NPC Deputies, CPPCC Members from HK, Macao
Chinese President Jiang Zemin and two other senior Chinese leaders met Monday deputies to the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) and members of the Ninth Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee from Hong Kong and Macao, who are here attending the annual sessions of the NPC and CPPCC National Committee respectively.
Jiang, Li Peng, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, and Li Ruihuan, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, were greeted with applause as they entered the East Hall of the Great Hall of the People Monday afternoon.
Among those present at the meeting were Vice-Premier Qian Qichen, Henry Ying Tung Fok and Ma Man Kei, vice-chairmen of the NPC Standing Committee, Tung Chee Hwa, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
