Dusty Winds Hit North China

Strong dusty winds have been blowing through vast regions of north China, but are expected to die down Saturday night, according to meteorologists.

But they expect another round of such weather will hit the region in the next few days.

Few people ventured onto the streets in this Chinese capital, and most of those who did were wearing gauze masks.

Since last night, the strong dusty winds swept over most part of northwest and north China.

Some parts of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were hit by sandstorms, and the strong winds even sent floating dust over to some areas of eastern China.

The meteorologists attributed this type of weather to frequent movement of cold air over the regions and increased dryness due to rising temperature in the spring, making surface soil easily blown away.
