Estonian President Leaves for Shanghai
President Lennart Meri of the Republic of
Estonia
left
Beijing
for
Shanghai
Saturday morning to continue his 10-day unofficial visit.
Meri arrived in Beijing Thursday at the invitation of President
Jiang Zemin
, and the two presidents met Friday. Meri also met with Chairman
Li Peng
of the Standing Committee of the National People' s Congress the same day.
Meri is the first president of Estonia after its independence in 1991.
