Qi said that the root cause of tension between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits has not been eliminated in that the Taiwan authorities have, up to the present, refused to accept the "One China" principle and recognize the common understanding between the Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits and the Strait Exchange Foundation and that is also the fundamental cause for the current social turmoil and disorder in Taiwan, the spokesman said. |
