Russia Denies Western Reports on Deterioration of Yeltsin's HealthVladimir Shevchenko, Protocol Chief of Russian former President Boris Yeltsin, on Friday denied recent western reports on deterioration of Yeltsin's health, saying "such stories are disgraceful."Shevchenko said Yeltsin was now at Moscow's Central Clinical Hospital and "the recovery process is proceeding normally". The national Itar-Tass also quoted hospital resources as saying that Yeltsin's health condition gave no grounds for alarm. Yeltsin was sent to the Central Clinical Hospital on January 30 with a high temperature presumably caused by an acute virus infection. The diagnosis was grippe and bed care was prescribed to the patient. Shevchenko said early this week that Yeltsin's recuperation process was proceeding normally, although not as quickly as initially expected. |
