Ukrainian, Armenian Presidents Hold Talks on Bilateral Ties

Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma held talks with his Armenian counterpart Robert Kochasyan in Kiev Thursday on bilateral relations.

"The Ukrainian-Armenian relations entered into a brand-new page today, providing opportunities for widening bilateral cooperation in all spheres," Kuchma told a press conference after the meeting.

While expressing his satisfaction over the effective bilateral cooperation, Kochasyan, who arrived here for a two-day official visit, said that Armenia and Ukraine are also actively cooperating within international organizations such as the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Council of Europe.

"We didn't find any divergence on discussed issues," Kochasyan said.

Seven documents have also been signed after the talks, including a joint statement of the two presidents in which they stressed the need to deepen trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The other agreements were focused on bilateral cooperation in the areas such as economy, education and customs.
