Continental Airlines of the United States, the world's sixth largest airline, announced Friday the official launch of the first-ever daily non-stop Boeing 777 service between Hong Kong and New York.
The flight, effective on Saturday, is the longest scheduled non- stop flight ever flown out of New York and the longest ever operated by a U.S. airline, said Gordon Bethune, Chairman and CEO of Continental Airlines.
The 7,337-nautical-mile non-stop journey from New York to Hong Kong will take passengers approximately 15 hours and 30 minutes to finish, shaving a minimum of two hours off of all other airline flights, which make at least one stop enroute.
Flying time from Hong Kong to New York will be about 14 hours and 45 minutes on most days, cutting travel time to New York by anywhere from two to eight hours.
