Photo Album of CPC Friendly Contacts Published

A large photo album, the first of its kind depicting the friendly contacts of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) with political parties of other countries, was published here recently.

A symposium was held here at the Great Hall of the People Friday morning to mark the publication of this album.

Among those present at the symposium were Qian Qichen, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice- premier of the State Council, and Qiao Shi, former chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee and head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

The album, edited by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and published by the Contemporary World Publishing House, includes over 500 pictures classified into three parts, quite a number of which are publicized for the first time.

This album, entitled "Peace, Development, Progress," features the charisma of collective leadership of the three generations in the Party's diplomatic work with Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin at the core, and the Party's unremitted efforts and major contributions to safeguarding world peace, promoting the development of China's foreign relations, and pushing forward human progress.

In his speech, Qian said that the editing and publishing of this album is of great importance just before the upcoming 80th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, which falls on July 1.

He believes that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Jiang Zemin at the core, the Party's friendly contacts with political parties of other countries will witness new and greater achievements and make new contributions to China's diplomacy and modernization in the new century.

The album is one of the key books published or to be published to mark the CPC's founding.
