New Power Plant Operational In Northwest China

The Baoji No. 2 Power Plant's fourth generating unit has gone into operation in Baoji in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

This means the power plant is now fully operational. It was one of China's major power plants during the 1996-2000 period.

The 6.24 billion-yuan thermal power plant, located 30 kilometers northeast of the city, will generate seven billion kilowatts/hours of electricity a year. It is funded by Northwest China Electric Power Group and the Shaanxi Province Electric Power Construction and Investing Corp.

The plant, installed with four domestically produced 300,000 kilowatt generators, with a total generating ability of 1.2 million kilowatts.

The plant started generating electricity in 1998, when the No. 1 generator was installed. The No.2 and No.3 generator was operational in 1999 and 2000.
