More Capital to Be Earmarked for "Spark Program"According to Li Xueyong, vice minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, more capital will be put into "Spark Program" for a strategic restructuring of rural economy and income growth by Chinese farmers in coming five years.Li made the remarks at the symposium marking the 15th anniversary of launching of "Spark Program" February 28, with an attendance of officials and personages with expertise from 21 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities throughout China. During the 10th Five-year Plan period, more sci-tech demonstration projects will be launched to bring a big boost to China's agricultural industrialization, increased scientific knowledge by farmers and a raise of living standards with a better-off life to be had by people in China's rural areas, said Vice Minister Li. By now, some 100 thousand sci-tech demonstration projects have been launched in over 85 percent Chinese cities and counties and these have had an accumulated amount of more than 280 billion yuan worth of social wealth created alone in the past five years. Furthermore, following technological advances and a restructuring of economy, a great development by township industries and a great many of "Spark Program" demonstration parks to be built in the coming five years there will be an overall boom of rural economy, as Li told news media, in China.
