A week-long China photo show entitled "Focus on China" began Wednesday in Kathmandu.

On display are over 60 photos taken by 13 celebrated photographers from 11 countries including the United States, Japan, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Russia, demonstrating the landscape and people's daily life of the present-day China.

"Art and culture have played an important role towards the strengthening of the friendly relationship that exists between Nepal and China for centuries," said Puskar Ojha, State Minister of Information and Communication, at the inaugural ceremony. "I hope such kind of exhibition will enhance our knowledge about China," he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Zhang Tiegen, Charge d'affair at the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, said China and Nepal, as close and good neighbors, have been developing cooperation in all fields during the past decades.

"In order to further deepen the good relations, we would like to better acquaint our Nepalese friends with more updated information about modern China through this exhibition," he said.

About 200 people, including Nepali governmental officials and people from all walks of life, attended the inauguration of the photo show co-organized by Nepali World Culture Net and the Chinese Embassy.
