China's Chief of PLA General Staff Meets ROK Army Chief of Staff

Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), said Thursday that China is always committed to the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, made the remark at a meeting with Kil Hyong Bo, army chief of staff of the Republic of Korea (ROK), who is on a visit to China.

Fu noted that the successful summit between leaders of the north and south of the Korean Peninsula last year has resulted in an evident ease of tension on the peninsula.

The friendly exchange and cooperation between China and the ROK and between the two armies over the past several years have markedly increased understanding, trust and friendship between the two sides, Fu said.

The two military leaders are both optimistic about the future cooperation between the two armies.

Kil Hyong Bo briefed Fu the current situation on the Korean Peninsula.
