Chinese Defense Minister Meets ROK Guests

China wishes to continue to develop its relations with the Republic of Korea (ROK), including the military ties, Defense Minister Chi Haotian said Thursday.

At a meeting with ROK Army Chief of Staff Kil Hyong Bo and his party, Chi said that China and ROK have maintained frequent exchanges of high-level visits since they forged diplomatic relations.

He added that the visits have pushed forward the friendly cooperation between the two sides in various areas.

Especially in recent years, armies of the two countries have also exchanges visits, which have helped deepen and expand the cooperation between them, Chi said.

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a State Councilor, said that he hopes the two sides of the Korean Peninsula continue to make efforts to maintain the peace and stability on the Peninsula.

Kil Hyong Bo said that he agrees the exchange and cooperation between the two countries, including the military exchanges, have been growing ever since bilateral relations were established.

He hopes China will continue to play a constructive role in maintaining the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
