China to Continue Support for Cuba

China will continue its support for the Cuban people in their fight for sovereignty and national independence and the great cause of socialist construction, Vice Premier Qian Qichen told Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Peraz Roque Thursday.

Qian said recent years have witnessed the frequent exchanges of visits between the top officials of the two countries, and bilateral cooperation has experienced constant expansion in diverse sectors.

China thanks Cuba for its firm support for China on various issues including human rights and Taiwan, Qian said. He appreciated the achievements made by the Cuban people under the leadership of President Fidel Castro Ruz.

Peraz thanked the Chinese government and people for the valuable support rendered to Cuba, adding that Cuba is pleased with the continuous development of relations with China.

Cuba supports China's fight for reunification and is willing to make concrete efforts with China to bring bilateral ties to a new high, he said.

Vice Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, Chinese ambassador to Cuba Wang Chengjia and Cuban ambassador to China Alberto Arufe were present during the meeting.

Peraz is here for an official visit as guest of Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan.
