Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing has called for greater efforts to develop the country's microelectronic and software industries.
He made the call at the end of lectures on related topics for top officials from the State Council and various ministries given by a professor from Peking University and another from Northeast China University.
The vice-premier said China must take effective measures to foster more microelectronic and software experts, and to encourage the development of these high-tech industries.
The country should also strive to build an e-government to improve the efficiency of administration, he said.
