Venezuela Criticizes US Report on Human RightsVenezuela recognizes only human rights reports made by Venezuelan human rights organizations and does not accept opinions on internal affairs by foreign governments or international organizations, Secretary-General of Venezuelan Presidency Elian Jaua said on Wednesday.Venezuelan Defense Minister Jose Vicente Rangel said the criticism of US human rights organizations regarding Venezuela was unfounded. The United States assumes the position of world judge, but neglects such human rights violations as the ill- treatment of immigrants and the killing of the innocent. He expressed the hope that the US Department of State respect facts of other countries and not make arbitrary conclusions. A recent report on human rights released by the US Department of State criticized the disregard the Venezuelan government demonstrates for human rights, abuses by police, and the infringement of press freedom and labor rights. |
