Border Trade in Yunnan Grows Rapidly

The volume of border trade at Hekou County, the largest port of entry and exit on the Chinese- Viet Nam border, rose to 765 million yuan last year, up 57 percent over the previous year's figure.

The county's volume of imports and exports came to 440,000 tons, setting an all time high.

Hekou is located on the southeastern tip of Yunnan Province. The county became a hub for trade flow since the railway line between Kunming, capital of Yunnan, and Hanoi, capital of Viet Nam, opened.

More than 180 foreign trade enterprises from various parts of China have registered in the county. With the approval of the local government, Viet Nam residents have opened up 300 booths in the county.
