China, Cuba Vow to Further Ties

China values the friendship of the Cuban people and will continue to support Cuba in its just fight for national independence, sovereignty and security against foreign aggression.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said this while holding talks with his Cuban counterpart Felipe Peraz Roque Wednesday afternoon.

China is pleased to see that Sino-Cuban relations have experienced sustained, stable and sound development, thanks to the efforts from the two sides and in particular from Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Cuban President Fidel Castro Ruz, Tang said.

Peraz appreciated China's great achievements in its socialist construction. He said the Cuban government is satisfied with Cuba' s enhanced relations and close cooperation with China, and is willing to make joint efforts with China in pushing ahead bilateral ties.

Peraz and his delegation arrived here earlier Wednesday after a visit to Shanghai, Nanjing and Dalian, at the invitation of Tang Jiaxuan.
