Macao Women Celebrate International Women's Day

The Macao Women's Federation held a grand party Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the upcoming International Women's Day.

Macao women have played a special role in family education and helped the young people to develop in a healthy way, said Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR)at the party.

The Macao Women's Federation has made outstanding contributions to the unity of women and the support for the work of Macao SAR government, he said Chairwoman of the federation Ho Lizhen called on local women to work hard and raise their own quality in the new times, and contribute more to the country's reunification and national revitalization, and build a better future for the Macao SAR.

Women now hold a high percentage of posts in administrative, legislative and judicial organs of the Macao SAR, and they act as an important force in carrying out the principle of "Macao people governing Macao." Present at the party were more than 1,000 guests including principal officials of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government and representatives of the organs of China's central government stationed in Macao.
