Great Success Marked in Three Gorges Project Construction

News briefing by China Yangtze Three Gorges Project Development Corp Tuesday in Beijing told that builders had won great success in constructing the Three Gorges Project on the Yangtze in 2000. They had by their concrete pouring for the second time broken the world record. Electricity generated by Gezhouba Hydropower Station kept at over 16 billion kwh.����

The year 2000 saw an upsurge of concrete pouring on the Three Gorges Project, rising to a total of around 5481.7 thousand cubic meters, over-fulfilling the quota by 5.41 percent in rewriting the world record.

Electricity generated by Gezhouba Hydropower Station, composing part of China Yangtze Three Gorges Project Development Corp, reached 16.222 kwh, for the third time exceeding 16 billion kwh since it was established. So far, it has been run with a safe operation record of 1,191 days, leading all the others abroad.
