Farmers Recruit Urban Laborers

While an estimated 60 to 70 million farmers are flowing into cities in search of jobs, some urban citizens in east China's Jiangxi Province are seriously considering going to the countryside and working for farmers.

Almost every day, advertisements recruiting urban laborers can be seen in the downtown area of the Longnan County seat, which attract the attention of many jobless people in the town.

After working as farm laborers for several years in nearby Guangdong Province, farmers here have saved money and learned advanced farming techniques.

Those farmers have started new ventures back in their home villages, like growing fruit trees and special vegetables. However, they have found themselves short of helping hands.

One of the farmers told reporters that he recruited about a hundred urban laborers every year.
