7 Killed, 11 Injured in Kashmir Attack

At least seven people, including a National Conference leader, have been killed and 11 other injured in the Kashmir valley since Monday, police said Tuesday.

A ruling National Conference leader was killed by militants in his village at Latina in Badgam district Monday evening.

Eleven civilians, including a woman, were injured when a grenade hurled by militants at a moving security vehicle missed the target and exploded on the road at Khadwani in Anantnag district Monday.

Meanwhile, police repulsed a militant attack on their post outside a shrine at Bandipora in north Kashmir Monday night.

Since 1989, some 30,000 people, most of them civilians, have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir.
