Japan Airlines Apology Too Superficial, No Substantial Contents

Representatives of Chinese passengers of flight JL 782 have expressed their utter disappointment to the letter of public apology handed to them by Japan Airlines on February 25, saying that the letter contained no substantial contents so they could only take it but not accept it.

"We have waited for so long a time before receiving the letter, and we are utterly disappointed since it actually contains no substantial contents. We hope that Japan Airlines would give us a satisfactory reply by taking up substantial measures as soon as possible. We still reserve the right of taking legal actions," they declared.

When parting with the Chinese representatives Japan Airlines said" Thank you for your accepting our letter". But the sentence met with a prompt confrontation from the Chinese side, making it clear that "We can only take the letter, not accept it". For the two words were widely apart in meaning, they said.

Reportedly, Chinese passengers have never halted in organizing a lawyer's group. While Japan Airlines representative Wang Xiaobin says the letter is only to express Japan Airlines' regret over the matter and offer an apology. As for concrete measures to be taken, that will come out according to later investigations. Japan Airlines will bring out the investigation results from phase to phase, with the first batch of results to come out no later than next Monday, and Japan Airlines' apology would continue instead of ending here.

Chinese Passengers Prepare to Sue Japan Airlines

More than ninety Chinese passengers who flew Japan Airlines are planning to sue the firm for almost US$90,000 each for allegedly leaving them in an airport without food and water for several hours.

They are also considering suing for alleged racial discrimination, saying they were treated differently to other passengers.
