Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said Tuesday that China is willing to increase international cooperation with the United Nations and other countries across the world in the area of human rights.

Tang made the remark during a meeting with Mary Robinson, visiting UN high commissioner on human rights. Tang also briefed the commissioner on China's progress in the promotion and protection of human rights.

China supports the world anti-racism conference to be held in South Africa in August, Tang said.

Mary Robinson praised China for its progress in reform and opening to the outside world as well as in improving its legal system. She said she is satisfied with the cooperation with China.

They also exchanged views on human rights issue in today's world.
