Editorial on Fighting Falun Gong Cult
Our Daily carries an editorial Tuesday, February 27, calling for the complete elimination of the Falun Gong cult.
The editorial hails the citation of 110 organizations and 271 individuals by departments of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the central government Monday, which it says indicates the determination of the Party and the Chinese people to wipe out the cancer of Falun Gong from society.
"If the cult is not removed, ... the process of China's reform, opening-up and socialist modernization drive will be affected," the editorial says.
The newspaper cited efforts by organizations and individuals to save the majority of Falun Gong followers by persuasion,law education and the spread of scientific knowledge.
It reminded the people that Li Hongzhi and his die-hard followers will not admit their failure, and will seize the chance to make trouble whenever they can.
The editorial, hence, called for full understanding of the complexity and long-term nature of the fight against the cult for the protection of the people's interests, the maintenance of social stability, the advancement of the reform and opening drive, and the cause of socialistic modernization.
