Wars Kill 250,000 African Children in Decade

More than 250,000 children have been killed over the last 10 years in wars across Africa, while 100,000 children witnessed killing of their parents, reported the Monitor newspaper on Monday.

Michel Sidible, the country representative of the United Nations Children's Funds in Uganda, revealed this recently when he was receiving 163 children from the Democratic Republic of the Congo who had been trained as solders at the Kyankwazai National Leadership Institute in Uganda.

Sidible said that over 10,000 children have been tortured and some 20,000 kids have been drafted or forced to join the warring armies in conflicts across the continent over the same period.
