Vice-Premier Qian Qichen Meets Vietnamese Deputy PM

Vice Premier Qian Qichen told Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam on Monday that China is "very satisfied" with the development of relations between the two countries.

Qian made the remarks during a meeting with Nguyen Manh Cam prior to the opening of the Boao Forum for Asia, scheduled for Tuesday in the small town in south China's Hainan Province.

The relations between China and Vietnam have had smooth development over the past few years, marked by constant contacts between senior leaders of the two sides and fast-growing trade and economic cooperation. Two-way trade volume reached US$2 billion last year.

That the two countries successfully resolved disputes in land border and demarcation of the Beibu Bay was "excellent" in the history of bilateral relations, Qian said.

Nguyen Manh Cam agreed with Qian's remarks. He noted the two sides have maintained close cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues. The prospects for cooperation in trade and mutual investment are also bright, he said.

The agreements on the border issues will greatly push forward bilateral friendship, he added.

The Vietnamese deputy prime minister said Vietnam supports the founding of the Boao Forum for Asia, and hopes the forum will play an active role for the development of Asia.
