Statesmen Arrive in Hainan to Attend Asian Forum

Leaders and former leaders of countries all over the world have begun to arrive in Hainan to attend the founding ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFO).

The BFO will be established Tuesday in this town in south China 's Hainan Province.

Arriving Sunday were former Australian Prime Minister Robert Hawke, former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam.

The meeting of experts and the preparatory meeting of the BFO will be held Monday. In addition, the guidelines for the BFO Charter will be discussed, and the BFO Declaration will be passed. The secretary-general of the forum will also be appointed during the BFO.

Chinese leaders will attend the forum-founding ceremony.
