China to Build Hydropower Plant in North Albania
China will build a Hydropower plant on the Drini River in northern Albania under a contract signed between the two sides earlier this month, the Albanian Electricity Corporation said Saturday.
Appearing in a press conference, Albanian President Rexhep Meidani said that the Bushat Project, which will produce 350 million kwh of power annually when it starts operation, will help ease the power shortage in the country.
The general manager of the corporation, Dritan Prifti, said that the total investment for the project is 150 million U.S. dollars.
The project will not only provide more electricity to our people, but also generate 1,500 jobs during the four-year construction period, Prifti said.
