American Chinese Donates Computers to Homeland Students

Students from Tianjin have received a donation of 10 computers from Cheng Yuan, board chairman of the US-based Yuancheng International Group Inc.

The municipal government of Tianjin selected 10 students, whose family income is lower than 300 yuan (about 36 US dollars) per month, from local candidates. They have been granted the title "excellent students" by the school authorities.

Like Cheng, who has been living in the United State for about 10 years, a lot of overseas Chinese have participated in the donation program named "blue future," which was initiated by the city last November, in a move to support local needy students to finish their education.

Cheng said that it has been his long-cherished wish to make some contributions to his motherland. He hoped that Chinese young generation work hard to face the worldwide competition in science and technology.
