Bo Xilai Elected New Governor of Liaoning
The fourth plenary session of the Ninth Liaoning Provincial People's Congress elected Bo Xilai as the new governor of the northeastern China province Saturday.
Bo Xilai, born in 1949, is a member of the Standing Committee of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He became vice-governor and acting governor of the province in early January this year after serving secretary of the CPC Dalian City Committee and mayor of Dalian City for years.
Also at Saturday's meeting, Zhang Xilin, Gao Guozhu and Gong Shiping were elected vice-chairmen of the Standing Committee of the Liaoning Provincial People's Congress.
