ROK Tourism Promotion Drive in Shandong

The Republic of Korea (ROK) hosted a promotion drive Wednesday in this capital of Shandong Province in east China to attract more Chinese to visit the country.

Jinan is the second leg after Qingdao for ROK's tourism promotion circuit show in Shandong. The drive will help tourists learn more about services and tourism programs in the country, according to a local tourism official.

Last year, more than 440,000 tourists from China visited ROK, up 39.8 percent over 1999. During the same period, 1.03 million tourists from ROK visited China, up 26 percent.

The year 2001 is ROK Tourism Year, so the country will host a number of festivals and fairs featuring diversified tour programs and routes. Meanwhile, ROK travel agencies will make efforts to improve boarding facilities and provide better service for Chinese tourists.
