Overseas Composer Expected for Olympic-theme Song

Famous Chinese songwriter, Tian Ming, expressed his wish to cooperate with overseas composers on his recent English-language Olympic-theme song.

The song, titled "One World, One Home," has been recently designed as one of the songs to publicize Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games.

"If the song was composed by a famous composer from another cultural background, it would be more widely accepted and make the song more meaningful for Beijing," he said.

"I am also looking for possibilities to ask the three world famous tenor vocalists, Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, to sing the song during their scheduled Beijing tour this summer," he said.

He added that those who are interested may contact him by e-mail at [email protected].

Tian's song was selected from hundreds of works sent to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bidding Committee since Beijing announced the bidding.

Here are words to the song:

We live on the same planet,

Rejoicing under the same sky.

We live on the same homeland,

Basking in the same sunshine.

We live on the same world,

Speaking in the same language.

We live in the same family,

Descending from the same fathers.

One world, One home,

Peace, Friendship and Progress.

One World, One Home,

Higher, Faster and Stronger.
