Main Venue for Asia Forum Inauguration Ready for Service

The main venue for the inauguration of Asia Forum in Bo'ao, Qionghai City of Hainan Province next week is now ready for service, said local sources.

According to the sources, the main venue, costing more than 20 million yuan (about US$2.4 million), is built on the estuary of three local rivers into South China Sea. It is constructed using French-made supple membrane as the main materials.

Engineer Zhang Chonglin explained that being close to nature and being in a harmony with the nature are the strongest concepts to be conveyed in designing the venue.

The main venue is equipped with advanced systems for international conferences and capable of holding more than 500 people.

Bo'ao, situated on the southern end of Hainan Island, is a tourist site famous for tropical scenery and rich in hot springs. It has been designated as the permanent site for the forum.

Asia Forum will be held in Bo'ao February 26-27. It was initiated by former Prime Minister of Australia Robert James Lee Hawke, former President of the Philippines Fidel Ramos, and former Prime Minister of Japan Hosokawa Morihiro.
