China's Longest Oil Painting CompletedAn oil painter in Ili Prefecture of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has just completed a 250-meter-long oil painting, believed to be the longest one in the world. The painting, made by Huang Long, portrayed more than 1,000 scenic spots along the ancient Silk Road including the Qin Shihuang Tomb, Dunhuang Grottoes and trade caravan. It also includes 20-odd famous figures such as Fuxi, the first man who used ropes to make nets for hunting and fishing, and Nuwa, who smelted rocks to make five-colored stones with which she patched up heaven. It took Huang at least one year to complete the painting after coming back from a six-month tour along the Silk Road. In 1997, Huang painted a 150-meter-long oil painting featuring the scenery of Ili, which was later listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.
