CPPCC Leader Li Ruihuan Meets Bangladeshi Guest
A senior Chinese leader said Friday that China will continue to strengthen the good-neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation in the new century.

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks during a meeting with Zillur Rahman, general secretary of the Bangladesh Awami League, who is visiting China.

"China appreciates and thanks the Bangladeshi Government and people for Bangladesh's consistent policy and support on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights," said the chairman. "We believe that the traditional friendship between our two countries will have greater development in the new century."

Rahman said the Bangladeshi people and the Chinese people have deep friendship and the Bangladeshi side always takes China as a most "trustworthy and sincere" friend and partner.

He said in the new century, Bangladesh will always keep the one- China policy, continue to support China on issues of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights, and push forward the friendly cooperation between the Awami League the Communist Party of China, and the two countries.
