Enterprises Relieved 160bn Yuan of Burden

Arbitrary charges, fund-raising quotas and fines had seriously disturbed the normal operation of enterprises. So far, China has canceled 44,602 items of unreasonable charges on enterprises with a sum of 167.98 billion yuan in the past three years, hence a further ease of past load on enterprises in China.

As reported from a working conference for doing away with arbitrary levying and decreased burden on enterprises held in Shenzhen, good result has been achieved to that end since July 1997. According to a survey conducted in 15 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, irregular charges on enterprises had a 30 percent cut in 1998, 15 percent in 1999 and another 5 percent last year. To be specific, 1,108 items of unreasonable charges involving 59 billion yuan on enterprises in the name of its six ministries and 557 items of such charges with a worth totaling 39.92 billion yuan and 32,937 items with a sum of 69.06 billion yuan have been canceled. There has been an obvious raise in the economic benefits of enterprises and to achieve the goal of reforming and shaking off difficulties by state-owned enterprises.

Besides, departments concerned have launched large special activities to earnestly solve some matters strongly concerned by enterprises. China has settled 66,547 cases on arbitrary charges on enterprises and persons disciplined and punishment administered rose to 5,840.
