Vice-President Meets ROK Party LeaderThe Communist Party of China (CPC) will increase cooperation with major political parties and statesmen of the Republic of Korea (ROK)to push forward the friendly relations of cooperation between the two countries in the new century, Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao said Thursday.Hu, also standing committee member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark in a meeting with a delegation headed by Rhee In Je, supreme member of the ROK New Millennium Democratic Party. In the new century, Hu said, the CPC is ready to enhance exchanges, friendship and cooperation with major political parties and statesmen of the ROK, including the New Millennium Democratic Party, so as to keep the Sino-ROK friendly relations of cooperation developing. He said the two countries cherish a long history of friendly contacts. Since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992, bilateral relations have scored marked progress, with exchanges and cooperation in various fields expanded and deepened. In recent years, he said, the CPC has forged party-to-party relations of a new type with major political parties of the ROK, including the New Millennium Democratic Party. Contacts between the two countries' parties have been frequent and their friendly cooperation continues to be strengthened, Hu added. Rhee said since the two countries established diplomatic ties, their friendly relations of cooperation in various sectors have developed rapidly. With the arrival of the new millennium, he said, his party wishes to see further development of friendly contacts and cooperation in political, economic, scientific and technological and cultural sectors between the two nations. He wished the Chinese people greater achievements in building their country and in the modernization drive. The visitors are here as guests of the CPC. |
