China Builds Xiamen University into Prestigious Institute of Higher Education
The Ministry of Education and the governments of
Fujian
Province and Xiamen City in Fujian signed an agreement Thursday on jointly building
Xiamen University
into a prestigious institute of higher education in the world.
According to the agreement, the ministry and the governments will invest a total 600 million yuan (about US$72.3 million) in the 2001-2003 period as development funds for the university.
The investment will be used in improving the university's education and research facilities and promoting professional training and high-tech developments.
