CPPCC Head Meets HK Chinese Chamber of Commerce Group

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with a visiting group of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong headed by its chairman Robin Chan Thursday.

Li expressed appreciation of the contributions the chamber of commerce has made to the development in both Hong Kong and the motherland in the past years.

He said that only in an environment of social stability, can Hong Kong become more prosperous and make greater contributions to the motherland.

All things and issues concerning Hong Kong should be handled in accordance with the "one country, two systems" policy and the " Basic Law" Hong Kong, he added.

Li, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, encouraged the chamber of commerce and all friends of commercial circles in Hong Kong to follow the patriotic tradition and make greater contributions in the new century.
