"Smile Train" Running in Xinjiang

The "Smile Train", which will provide free surgery to children with cleft lips and palates, was set in motion at the Disabled Healing Center of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Tuesday.

The US-based "Smile Train" is a non-profit organization with the goal of eradicating the cleft lips and palates problem worldwide. It was launched in 1999, by Charles B. Wang, CEO and board chairman of Computer Associates International, Inc.

The organization has already cooperated with the China Charity Foundation, and is now providing education and training to Chinese medical staff.
