IOC Evaluation Commission Inspects Beijing's Olympic Sports Complex

Members of the visiting International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission inspected Beijing's Olympic Sports Complex on Wednesday.

After hearing a report Wednesday morning by Lou Dapeng, an official of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee (BOBICO),the IOC inspectors visited the Complex, which hosted several sports during the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing.

The facilities in the compound have been face-lift through months' re-construction, with such modern and environmental-friendly equipment and devices as solar-powered lighting and gardening systems in place.

Members of the IOC team visited the Main Press Center, the handball hall, Sub-venue Press Center, offices for international sports federations and athletes warming-up rooms. The inspectors asked detailed questions over topics ranging from ticket sales to number of locker rooms available in the venue.

Also accompanying the IOC inspectors were Liu Jingmin, BOBICO's vice-president, He Zhenliang, China's IOC Executive Board member, Yu Zaiqing, BOBICO's vice-president, Tu Mingde, BOBICO secretary and Lu Shengrong, a Chinese IOC member.
