Beijing to Invest 43 Billion Yuan in Major Projects

Beijing will spend 43 billion yuan (some US$5.2 billion) on the construction of 60 major projects this year.

Guo Junqing, executive deputy director of the Beijing Development Planning Commission, said Wednesday that the 60 projects include 36 infrastructure projects, seven public buildings, 12 high-tech projects, and five other projects.

He also noted that the construction will focus on a light railway, road reconstruction and high-tech projects, which will relieve the traffic congestion and improve the city's high-tech level.
