Research Institution for the Yangtze River Development Set up
Jointly established by the Development Research Center of the State Council, Wuhan municipal government and Wuhan University, the Yangtze River Development Institution was set up in Wuhan University February 20, the first of its kind in China covering all reaches of the river.
Relying mainly on the research personnel of soft science research center, the Yangtze River sustainable development center of regional development institution of Wuhan University, the Institution will join hands with local governments, enterprises and scholars in Jiangsu, Shanghai and Chongqing to carry on high-level researches, and by way of training and international cooperation for further exploration and economic construction of the river, says Wang Mengkui, director of the Development Research Center of the State Council and first president of the newly-founded Institution.
The Institution will in the near future bend on studying a number of major subjects, such as the "digitalization of the Yangtze River", the "development of upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River and central regions", and on top of that, to set up a website by the name of "New Yangtze River Online".
