Chinese Military Leader Meets Venezuelan GuestsChina is willing to work with Venezuela to further bilateral military ties, a senior Chinese military leader said.Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), made the remarks Wednesday morning in a meeting with Venezuelan General Commander of the Navy Jorge Miguel Sierraalta and his party. Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that China and Venezuela, both developing countries, hold the same or similar views on many international issues. He added that the relationship between the two countries and their militaries have been developing soundly in recent years, with the bilateral cooperation continuously expanding. Fu stressed that the naval forces of the two countries should strengthen their cooperation in particular. The Chinese military leader also briefed the guests on China's defence policy and the military building. Sierraalta said that he agrees his country and China do share many similar views on major international issues, adding that the two countries have always been able to support each other. A powerful PLA is conducive to peace in the world, Sierraalta noted, saying that Venezuela will also be happy to further enhance the friendly cooperation with China, including military exchanges.
