European Overseas Chinese Leaders Visit East China Province

A 28-member delegation, comprised of European overseas Chinese leaders, ended a two-day visit in the eastern province of Zhejiang and left for Hong Kong Tuesday.

The Delegation of European Overseas Chinese Leaders Promoting the Peaceful Reunification of China is the first such group of European overseas Chinese organization leaders that have come back to their home country over the past 30 years.

Most of the delegates are members of the European Federation of Chinese Organizations (EFOCO), including chairman and former chairmen of EFOCO, executive members of EFOCO and other overseas Chinese leaders from countries in Europe.

Zhang Dejiang, Zhejiang's provincial governor, met with the delegates, headed by Hu Yuanshao, sitting chairman of EFOCO, and informed them of the province's development in the economy, science, education, culture and infrastructure.

The governor highly commended the leaders' efforts to promote China's peaceful reunification.

Founded in the Netherlands in 1992, EFOCO is the largest and most influential alliance for European overseas Chinese organizations. It has added its member organizations to over 100 from 26 when the organization was founded.
