Cambodia's Defense Ministry Launches Defense White Paper
The Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia has launched Defense White Paper on Tuesday, which is the first time in Cambodia's history.
The Defense White Paper clearly defines political guidelines for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) in implementing its roles and tasks in an effective and useful manner.
This document also represents Cambodia's commitment to the establishment of transparency, and its efforts to build confidence in a peaceful and prosperous region.
It says that the RCAF must be built into an armed force which is absolutely loyal to the nation, respects the Constitution of Cambodia, and is well disciplined, polite and morally clean, and respects and loves the Cambodian people.
The paper stipulates that RCAF has the capacity of fulfilling the defense of independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and of maintaining and strengthening peace, stability and social security order.
It also says that the reform of the RCAF must be enhanced so that it can be a well-organized armed force with appropriate size, decent wages and allowances, and sufficient ability to perform its defense duties by contributing to national construction and development, and assisting people suffering from various disasters.
