Beijing to Punish Dirty Vehicles

Beijing's traffic control department has taken rigorous measures to keep vehicles running cleanly on road. As stipulated in Article 19 of the Regulations Road and Traffic Control of the People's Republic of China, all vehicles are asked to be in good condition, safe and clean, otherwise, they will be judged as a violation of regulations.

Within the framework of the regulations, the Beijing government recently further put emphasis on road and traffic control. If a vehicle is very dirty, the police has the right to suspend its driver's license until it is clean enough by the standard. And if the vehicle disperses and flies waste in public places, the driver will be fined five-yuan as punishment and his license be suspended for a month besides picking up the waste right on the spot. In addition, dirty, damaged and unclean license plates must be cleaned as soon as possible, otherwise, the driver will also be imposed a fine of 50-200 yuan, cleaning the plates on the spot, and his driver's record will be deducted three points. If the driver's record is deducted a total of 12 points within one year, he/she should go back to the drivers' school to learn regulations and driving skills before taking tests for a new license.

In winter, there are many dirty vehicles on the road due to snowfalls in Beijing. The administrative authorities concerned have called on all drivers to clean their vehicles and keep Beijing beautiful and clean.
