Chinese PLA Senior Official Meets German Defense Minister

The development of the relations between Chinese and German armed forces have maintained good momentum, said Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese Liberation Army (PLA) on Tuesday.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, told visiting German Minister of Defense, Rudolf Scharping, that Sino-German relations continue to expand since the two countries forged diplomatic relations more than 20 years ago.

He said that China and Germany have no conflicts in interest, and developing Sino-German relations conforms to the fundamental interest of the people of the two countries.

Fu recalled his tour to Germany last March, and voiced his belief that Scharping's China tour will promote friendship and cooperation between the two sides, and will contribute to Sino-German military cooperation in all fields.

Scharping noted that China is an important country in the area of global security, and he hopes that Germany and China would conduct more cooperation in exchange of officers and other fields.
